Oral Motor Pre/Post Op

Tongue/Lip Tie Rehab

At igniteKIDS we understand that rehabilitation is essential for optimal outcomes from a tongue or lip tie release. Physical therapy is an integral part in assessing oral motor skills and to help determine if a tongue or lip tie release is necessary. A thorough physical therapy evaluation will be performed and both pre and post op functional exercises and wound healing instructions will be provided to ensure improved oral motor function.

One issue that can arise in newborns and infants is tongue, lip, or cheek ties. The most common are tongue and lip ties. A tie occurs when the frenulum, the thin band of tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth or the lips to the gums of the mouth, is too tight, short, or thick. This can impact your infant’s ability to latch and feed and various aspects of your baby’s body and may require medical attention.

Signs and symptoms of the difficulties your baby may have if they have ties in the mouth.

• Feeding Difficulties

• Digestive Health

• Postural Concerns

• Speech Development

• Dental Health

• Speech and Airway Disruptions.
